Tapering Off Klonopin Very Slowly - What To Do...
So how do you really taper off Klonopin? Good question. I know you probably came off a page that showed you a little bit about tapering – but there is more to it. But you probably already knew that.
The previous page was the political correct way of Klonopin Tapering. This way is probably the best since you will be tapering off little by little. Now grant it, this will take a long time, but it is a lot better than going cold turkey or even dropping down .25 mg per every couple of months. So be patient, you will get there and there won’t be that much Klonopin withdrawal symptoms.
Let’s say you are taking three mgs per day – one mg. per dosage. You may need a pill cutter for this. If you can, use your fingers as the cutters – but cut the pill in fours (we’re assuming the pill is one mg.). Now trim off one of the quarters with a knife or you could break off a little bit of that quarter. Now take the four pieces of Klonopin and swallow it. The remaining part of the Klonopin you can throw away if you want.
The Klonopin Tapering that you are doing is not even cutting one quarter of the dosage – it’s not even half of one quarter. You are just trimming a little bit off. Once you do that, you should not be able to feel any type of withdrawal symptoms.
Do this for one week and then try to take a little more off the quarter piece of Klonopin. It does not have to be exact. If you do get sever withdrawal symptoms, then you have taken to much off and should wait another week or two before trying again. Once that time is up – try it again and see what happens. If you do get Klonopin withdrawal symptoms, you might want to get try and tough it out or try one of the withdrawal methods like self-hypnosis.
However, I really don’t think you will experience symptoms that will make you drive you crazy. You might feel a little bit of something “bad” going on – but it should not be much. Again though, you can always revert back to your original dosage of Klonopin if you do not feel comfortable. I would wait until you are mentally ready to do the Klonopin tapering.
The whole goal is to wean you off the Klonopin as slowly as possible. This technique is not for impatient people. You have to promise yourself to keep at a slow pace or you will run into some withdrawal symptoms.
I was once watching some videos on Youtube and there was a doctor on there that specialized in helping people taper off of Klonopin. She said that people have been on Klonopin (or Xanax) for years and when they begin to taper off of the medication, they become impatient and then go cold turkey (which is the worst thing to do). She kept on saying that people have been on benzos for years – what is the hurry to get off?
I agree with the doctor. You should take your time for the Klonopin Withdrawal technique. You must go very, very, very slowly. These Benzos are very dangerous and can lead to certain consequences like convulsions if you stop taking them suddenly.
Bottom line: When you go very slow – you should not be able to notice Klonopin withdrawal symptoms. If you do…there are basically two choices. Go back to the original amount that you were taking and try it again in a couple weeks when you are more mentally prepared OR just grit it out.
There is one other way. You can take a nice, long, warm shower if you experience any type of symptom. I do this a lot. If I am at home and I start feeling mind fog or a headache, I hop into the shower and close my eyes and let the warm water hit my head first and then let it run down. Very nice feeling. I usually feel pretty good after taking a shower. However, I must stress that this might last for up to an hour and the symptoms may return. If they do, you might consider drinking green tea or do some meditation.
