How to Overcome Temporary Memory Loss

Today, I was pouring over the internet, looking for any case that would have someone that had experienced a solution for temporary memory loss from tapering off of Klonopin or Xanax. I found nothing. I myself am going through this problem (I think I’ve hit on all withdrawal symptoms except for maybe a couple – I’m surprised I haven’t gone mad by now).

My symptoms aren’t as bad as some others’, but there are times when I forget simple names for objects. It doesn’t bother me to much – I can tolerate it. However, many people going through this may effect their performance at work. Not a great place to have a symptom like this.

Here’s my suggestion – and I haven’t done it as of yet, simply because I have to many other fish to fry. Use my meditation or self-hypnosis technique. The hypnosis script would be a little different after you relax you mind and body. The key would be the visualization.

If you do want to go through the meditation route, just imagine yourself (after you are relaxed) talking to people, remembering and calling them by their names. Actually, whatever scenario you are having problems with, you can visualize it. If you are forgetting little things at work, imagine yourself remembering things at work – if you are at the grocery, then imagine yourself there remembering to get certain things. It all depends on what place you are forgetting things at. However, if it is just in general, picture yourself remembering everything.

Positive affirmations are great as well. In addition to meditation, you can say to yourself, “I can remember people’s names” or any other phrase that pertains to the situation you are facing. Never underestimate the power of positive thinking.
